Static Driving You Crazy?

The dry winter air, mixed with the dry heat indoors can make your hair quite electrical this time of the year! As if getting a jolt of electricity by opening your car door isn't enough, your hair now has a mind of its own and it seems impossible to tame the static filled beast! Fortunately, there are some easy remedies that will set you up for success through the remainder of the winter season!

It's all about what products you are using!

Fighting static starts at the basic application of what you put in your hair, and how often. Using moisturizing conditioners like Moroccanoil Hydrating Conditioner will help start you off on the right foot. Try to avoid shampooing every day, as it will dry out your hair, stripping the moisture and natural oil of your scalp from the hair cuticle. I follow up the conditioner with my all time favorite product, the Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream which conditions, hydrates and tames frizzy hair. This leave-in, moisture-rich styling cream creates a soft, natural feel. Perfect for blow-drying, smoothing flyaways and refreshing styles the next day, this nourishing, argan oil-infused hair styling cream adds shine and definition with a soft hold. Again, you are hydrating the hair and keeping it from "drying out" which would cause your static to become worse.

Tools to Tame the Beast!

Cheaper brushes are popular, but they also are a catalyst for the static problem. Instead, look into a higher quality bristle brush that is made from boar bristles. These will last you longer, as well as keep the moisture locked in your hair, reducing frizz and static cling. Also, during the winter months you may want to ditch the brush frequency and switch to a wide-toothed comb. By creating less friction, you are less likely to get the electric charge building up creating static, frizz, & unmanageable hair.
